Happy shopping again, my Skinthusiasts!

1.  FARMACY Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Echinacea $34.00

I love my sherbet balm cleansers and this is one of my favorites. Luxurious and glorious, I love basking in the therapeutic scent. This melts makeup, water-resistant sunscreen but is also full of beautiful plant ingredients.

2. FRESH Soy Face Cleanser $38

This was the OG  jelly cleanser which I started using probably close to a decade ago for my stingy, sensitive skin. Recently, with all the new ones popping up, this one is still my favourite and the best of it’s kind imo. Between the soy, cucumber, rose and panax ginseng, the others don’t really come close. You can use over the eyes without any stinging. This is luxury so come sale time, it’s what I like to stock up on.

3. NEOGEN DERMALOGY Green Tea Real Fresh Foam Cleanser $19

This cleanser is so gentle and satisfying. It foams from the pump mechanism and not from harsh agents. This also contains an insane list of plant, root and herb extracts as well as luxurious oils. This hydrates and nourishes as it cleanses and leaves skin bright!

4. KORA ORGANICS Cream Cleanser for Dry Skin $30

I used this last Winter at the beginning of the year and it saved my skin. This cleanses in the most rich and comforting way. I use this as a 2nd cleanse, it rinses clean without residue and leaves even the driest, most irritated skin, soft and moisturized.

1. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence $179

Classic. Though I’ve found my dupes, I still come back to this every year during sale time as a treat. For those of you who are die-hard, nothing-else-compares, then now’s the time.

2. AMOREPACIFIC Vintage Single Extract Essence $145

I’ve said my piece on this essence. The most unique, concentrated, powerful antioxidant essence I’ve come across. I was 😍 when I first saw it at Lotte Duty Free, and I’m still 😍. A precious pleasure to use and has straight up brightened my skin.

3. BLITHE Vital Treatment Essence for Hydrating$46

One of my all-time favourite serum-essences. Unlike the other 2 essences, this one is hydrating enough to use as a toner,  but also concentrated enough to be a serum. This is the kind of skincare I love – Medicinal, but luxurious and elegant. This contains 11% of one of my favourite ingredients, Panax Ginseng root extract and high percentages of other powerful Asian medicinal roots and herbs. This is lightweight, very healing and leaves you with bouncy skin.

1.DRUNK ELEPHANT Protini™ Polypeptide Cream $68

The ultimate youth-preservation moisturizer. First and foremost, the consistency is gloriously elegant. This is a gel-cream that’s lightweight, hydrating and non-greasy. Perfect for layering and all skin-types. This has 9 plant derived peptides or epidermal growth factors. These mimic the epidermal growth factors that are already present in our skin and are gradually diminishing with the passage of time.

2. HERBIVORE Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Crème $48 Natural, Vegan, Cruelty-free

This has been one of my favourite Summer moisturizers. Hydrating gel-cream texture that’s so lightweight and simple but luxurious! The downside is that I go through it too quickly. Soothing, leaves a beautiful, refined skin finish and has that gorgeous, subtle scent of Rosa Damascena.

3. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream $58 Vegan, Cruelty-free

If you haven’t noticed, mushrooms are having a major moment. This moisturizer contains Reishi mushroom alongside a bunch of adaptogenic herbs. Again with my weakness for medicinal skincare and YTTP have done this so well. This is one of few creams without silicones but still applies smooth and light despite a dense appearance. This also has a matte-ish, non-greasy finish!

4. GO-TO Very Useful Face Cream $31

This cheeky brand has been such a pleasant discovery. I am pretty much loving everything I’ve tried so far. This moisturizer is what I’m using most days. This has a light texture but is more moisturizing than Protini and Pink Cloud. Infact, this leaves the skin with a lovely glossiness. I am all about ‘skin gloss’ even during the sweltering Summer heat-wave! You need very little for the entire face, and the scent is interesting – from Fig and Oriental Rose.

1.  DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum $69

I’ve been talking about this serum for years now. Love it for anti-wrinkle and keeping my eye area smooth and youthful!

2. BELIF Moisturizing Eye Bomb $48

Light but still creamy, this is the most perfect eye cream especially for the upcoming season. This also sits perfect under makeup!

3. KORA ORGANICS Noni Radiant Eye Oil $38

I absolutely love this magical eye oil. I’ve been waiting for a product like this and it’s everything. This applies and sinks into the skin so quickly while moisturizing it, you won’t have blurry vision or greasiness. Makeup also applies beautifully over it and will not slip and slide.

4. BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel $54

Fabulous lightweight and refreshing eye gel for the days I’m suffering from milia. Really feels like it depuffs and tightens after application.

5. DRUNK ELEPHANT C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye  $64

I’ve been waiting for a great Vit. C eye cream and this one is effective. This uses If you are looking for some brightening around the eye area, this is it. The texture is also beautiful – a lightweight, moisturizing gel cream that works well under makeup. This contains 5 derivatives of Vit. C which are effective for brightening.

1. GO-TO Lips $12

Powerful stuff. I was expecting Balm.com and my lips actually got something legit. This uses medical grade lanolin, shea butter, beeswax and a bunch of beautiful oils and a natural scent from pomegranate. No petrolatum or mineral oils in sight. Not sticky, luxuriously coats the lips and will be indispensable during the colder months.

2. DRUNK ELEPHANT Lippe Balm $18

This glides over your entire mouth in one silky swipe. Luxuriously rich balm. Not sticky.

3. FRESH Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm $18

The dreamiest lip balm. Saved and transformed my chapped lips overnight during a trip do the desert after a 15 hour flight.

4. FRESH Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15  $24

A ride-or-die favourite for years. Still the best. Buttery and delicious, Sugar Honey is the perfect “your lips but better” shade for me!

1.GO-TO Face Hero $34

Super elegant Oil Serum blend. This is a rich, moisturizing blend that comforts my skin so much. I use it sparingly now while it’s still hot and only focus on certain areas of my face but will be perfect for the upcoming seasons. In love with how nourishing this is and how my skin loves this on it’s own.

2. DRUNK ELEPHANT Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil $40

I am in love with the new mini-version of this oil. This silky, lightweight oil has transformed my skin and I’ve said enough about it.

3. FRESH Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil $52

I just revisited this blend after I felt I had gotten too much sun. I was in love with it 3 years ago and even moreso now that I’ve cycled back. This heals, calms and nourishes like nothing else. This also has a unique, pleasantly comforting texture that makes application heavenly.

1. FARMACY Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum with Echinacea GreenEnvy™ $58

Something new that impressed me from the first application. Gentler version of Sunday Riley’s GG that’s far more suitable for my skin. No irritation whatsoever but I wake up with smooth, plump, glowing skin. This uses 11% Acid complex – Mainly Lactic, Glycolic and natural fruit acids including Willow Bark (BHA). This contains so much good stuff, no scent and is more immediately effective than Herbivore’s Prism. So far, I’ve been using this every other day and my skin is radiant!

2. TARTE Knockout Tingling Treatment $39

Powerful acid treatment and closest dupe to the iconic Biologique Recherche’s P50 toner which I love!

1. ORIGINSRitualiTea™ Matcha Madness™ Revitalizing Powder Face Mask with Matcha & Green Tea $36

Reviewed this in a video a couple of years ago and the on-camera results are undeniable. Instant brightened, crazy smooth skin. I was even accused of messing with the lighting to manipulate the brightened results – My camera person is the tripod which has no influence on daylight. This was just that immediate.

2. ORIGINS Clear Improvement™ Charcoal Honey Mask to Purify and Nourish $34

Love this for degunking my face this Summer without drying it out. Also, I love me some honey!

3. FRESH Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask $92

This is one of the few overnight masks that I find to actually do something. This is fantastic for drier skin types or F/W months. This mask has protected my skin from central heating overnight and is so soothing let alone moisturizing. After washing off, my skin is next-level soft and supple.

4. BELIF Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask $34

Maybe it’s the skintertainment or maybe just how plumped out and hydrated my skin feels the next day but this is a literal, ‘Aqua bomb’ for your face. I like this way more than the Laneige sleeping packs that I’ve always found so over-rated. This actually transforms my skin overnight. The jello/pudding texture is also pretty awesome I won’t lie. I love applying this! I’ve replaced moisturizer with this many nights this Summer.

1. CLINIQUE Fresh Pressed 7-day System with Pure Vitamin C $27

Love this. Perfect for travel and a fabulous, hefty C-serum/emulsion.

2. KIEHL’S SINCE 1851 Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 12.5% Vitamin C $62

A big surprise product for me this year. This is a powerful anhydrous C-serum that is more stable due to the absence of water so it lasts longer and it is powerful! Wonderful especially for those with normal – oily skin.

3. BIOSSANCE Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil $72

This oil blend is so lovely and contains THD, a Vitamin C derivative that is particularly powerful at skin brightening and evening out the skin tone. The rose adds a special, luxurious touch and makes me happy during application.

1. TATCHA Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 PA+++ $65

I’ve said it many times, but this sunscreen is perfection. Not a sale goes by without my purchasing at least one.

2. CLINIQUE Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50 $19.50

This all mineral sunscreen is fabulousl! Really elegant, light, minimal white cast as it has a universal tint (may still show on darker skin tones). Wears well under makeup and is also one of the few sunscreens my sister with the uber-reactive skin can use.

3. NEOGEN DERMALOGY Day-Light Protection Sun Screen SPF 50 PA+++ $30

This was my go-to sunscreen at the beginning of the year and I miss it. I need to replenish. This is hydrating, moisturizing, invisible, comforting on the skin and perfect for me especially during colder, drier months. Those with oilier skin may find this a bit much.

4. MURAD City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ $65

One of my favourite all-mineral sunscreens of last year. This even has a PA rating to measure UVA protection, bravo! A high one at that too. Universal tinge of colour, minimal white cast, goes on oily but dries down fast and has some oil control. Protects from other environmental factors as well such as blue-light from our screens.

5. SUPERGOOP! Glow Stick Sunscreen SPF 50 $25

I cannot stop talking about how much I love this sunscreen stick. I’ve used it so much this Summer and I feel it will be even more perfect for F/W!

6. SUPERGOOP! 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 $38

I’m not usually into Matte anything, let alone an all mineral sunscreen,  but this is a fabulous. It kept my skin balanced through a humid, hot day of running about, it also is just the right amount of tinted that it doesn’t feel like makeup or a cc cream, just very natural and truly good under makeup. I imagine this would suit even those with deeper skin tones. Also a fantastic product for men.

7. Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 $32

I’ve been using this all Summer. This is truly invisible, a great primer under makeup and gives a skin-blurring effect. Fabulous sunscreen.

8. SUPERGOOP! Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45 $30

I usually use this as a final layer over my makeup and also throughout the day as a reapplication top-up. This has become my favourite mineral sunscreen powder as it disappears into the skin and does not cake-up, and is not powdery at all. Very natural and really covers the skin.

9. SUPERGOOP! Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream Broad Spectrum SunscreenSPF 37 $32

If you are looking for an eye cream with SPF, look no further. Previously, my go-to was the Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream but this one is less thick, white-casty, not as pasty and easier to apply. It also has a wonderful cooling metal application tip.

1. L’OCCITANE Cleansing And Softening Shower Oil With Almond Oil $25

My go-to shower wash. This is moisturizing as it cleanses. Gentle, without sulfates or harsh cleansing agents yet still lathers and leaves your skin feeling fresh, clean but not stripped or dry.

2.  BELIF Body Bomba Body Lotion Lemon Verbena $26.00

Love this body lotion in both scents. Light, easily absorbed but very moisturizing. Gets rid of the scales!

3. TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL Egg Mousse Body Oil $25

This is always endless skintertainment for me. But also, it is incredibly moisturizing. The application is hands down the best. Easy to apply mousse to oil. Spreads on as a mousse but turns into a nourishing, moisturizing oil that absorbs immediately, is not greasy but instantly softens the skin.

4. SUPERGOOP! Super Power Sunscreen Mousse Broad Spectrum SPF 50 $34

Another skintertainment product that I couldn’t get enough of this Summer. I love the way this mousse applies on the skin. Quick absorbing but also moisturizing. Surefire way to ensure I apply and keep reapplying sunscreen on my body at the pool.

5. ISLE OF PARADISE Self-Tanning Mousse

My favourite self-tanner to date. I only use on my legs and not only is this easy to apply because again, it’s a mousse texture (which clearly I’m obsessed with) but it is tinted so you can tell where it’s applying. This spreads easily and tans without any streaks – it’s practically fool-proof. I’ve done a crappy, rushed, ill-prepped job using my hands in a rush and still I got natural even colour. I use the Medium and it turns the most natural colour for me. Also, no tell-tale scent!

1. CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Volumizing Paste with Pure Rassoul Clay and Rose Extracts $53

At this moment in time, all the products I use in my hair are from Christophe Robin. That’s how much I love this brand and I need to stock-up.  This Clay cleanser is like my favourite Salt Scrub Cleanser except it’s a rich clay shampoo that cleans the scalp so well, I barely need to wash my hair. Gorgeous.

2. CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt $53

A favourite. I will always use this treatment.

3. CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Color Fixator Wheat Germ Mask $43

I use this mask as a conditioner and it has made my hair so soft and shiny. This is very light and does not weigh the hair down but truly conditions the tresses and leaves a gorgeous shine.

4. BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Bb. Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo with French Pink Clay

I’ve been a fan of the Pret-a-Powder in the squeezey bottle and am loving it in a more traditional spray format. I love the clay which keeps the scalp balanced but also adds so much texture.

5. BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer $28

I use this before I heat style my hair and before sun exposure. This is completely weightless and I can see that it protects my hair from the heat of my styling tools.

1. TATCHA The Silk Canvas Protective Primer $52

The best primer I have ever used. I never felt the need for primers or that extra layer before but this is truly smooth as silk and weightless. You need such a minuscule amount and it glides over your skin and pores, blurring them out. The most beautiful primer.

2. HOURGLASS Extreme Lash Mascara $29

Vegan mascara that is no joke with volume building. Exactly what I need, lots of volume. It’s also very Black which also works to my favour. The brush doesn’t allow for clumping, and produces a full, wispy lash. Surprisingly this also doesn’t smudge which I fully expected. Even in hot, humid, sweaty weather!

3. KEVYN AUCOIN The Neo-Blush $38

The KA blushes have to be consistently the most pigmented I’ve used. I am obsessed with these, the smaller packaging works for the way I apply. I get the best results when I blend all components together. There is the subtlest sheen and most beautiful colour. I thought Grapevine would be too dark for me when their MUA picked it out for my skintone, but it really is the most beautiful cheek colour.

4. SURRATT BEAUTY Expressioniste Brow Promade $25

The best ever, my ride-or-die brow product. I’ve been using this for years and always stock up during sale time. This is a pomade that keeps your brows in place while still being soft and moldable. No crispness, or stiffness of hairs. They just stay in place wherever you mold them.

5. SURRATT BEAUTY Lid Lacquer in Hadaka $36

This lid lacquer was introduced to me through a makeup artist and I’ve fallen in love with it. I like single washes of colour and this is a perfect, glossy tint. The colour, Hadaka is a peachy brown and so perfect for Fall.

6. HOURGLASS Veil™ Translucent Setting Powder $46

Hourglass powders reign supreme. This new one is no exception. It gives the skin a gorgeous, polished finish that’s not cakey or obvious.

7. SHISEIDO MicroLiner Ink $22

This microliner is on my wishlist. I’ve loved shiseido liners so this one is calling my name. I really liked the Hourglass 0.5mm liners but they transferred too much when I blink. So I’m really excited to try this!

1. MOUNT LAI De-Puffing Jade Facial Roller $34

I love a good face roll.

2. SHISEIDO Facial Cotton $10

Always stocking up on these cloud-like cushions. Best cotton ever.

1 ATELIER COLOGNE Clémentine California Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume $135

My personal scent of the moment. It’s light, citrusy, yet warm.

2. FRESH Cannabis Santal Candle $60

My current favourite home fragrance. No, this does not actually smell like most NYC street corners. No pungent weed scent, rather it’s the handsome, rich scent of a warm, cozy, well-decorated home. I am horrible at describing how things smell but this one is cozy, warm and comfortable. Not sweet, musky or anything else that could overwhelm the senses.

Do you prefer this Blithe essence over the 8 bean one?

Hey Wendy! At the moment yes, I prefer this to the 8 beans. I really love that one too and I used it first. It’s heavier in consistency and pretty hardcore, I’m loving the lightness of the Hydrating essence more right now.

    Hello Renee,
I truly enjoy your posts! I get so much useful information regarding skincare! You’ve been a game changer towards my decisions regarding skincare & the products I am currently using! I continue to learn more and want to try more products!
This post is no exception! So many great recommendations for the coming sale at Sephora!

    Hi Renee,
So excited to see this list! I’ve been thinking about changing up my skincare, since I currently use my esthetician’s own line of products. The BLITHE Essence sounds like it could be a good match for my mild subtype 1 rosacea. If I purchased it, is there any need to pick up one of the other toners you recommend, or is it truly effective on its own? Thank you!

    • Renée

      August 27, 2018 / 3:15 am

It’s truly effective on it’s own and could take the place of toner, essence and serum. However, I would caution you to perhaps spot test first just incase. Rosacea is always tricky and this isn’t a simple toner, infact, it’s quite potent with extracts!

Hi Renee, I must say you change my perspective about skincare. I have always been the “I am not bothered about my skin type of person”. Untill i saw your video on youtube, it change me for good and i am loving my skin now. I also only buy skincare products recommended by you. You are an amazing person. Can anybody from the UK get things on sephora? I really cannot understand their site. its always on different language when i access it and really confusing. Any advice please. Thank you

    Hi Renée,

Love your list, added a few more things to my cart already, which I had already been eyeing! (Farmacy’s Honey Moon Glow for example).

Curious, what are your thoughts, if any, on the FRESH Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence? I still have some of the Blithe essence, you have on your list, however after using I’m finding that I’m having a bit of a reaction to it, or possibly just what I am mixing it with. Was looking to try/use something a bit lighter (in texture as well).

    Thanks!

Hey Carlos! If you’re having a reaction from the Blithe or its combination with other products you’re using, I’m not sure the Fresh Kombucha will be any better. It’s not really a simple essence and it also isn’t all that lightweight. It’s quite potent. Have you tried belif’s Hungarian Water Essence or May Coop Raw Sauce?

        Hi Renée!

Have to say that after discovering you and your invaluable wealth of information and attention to details regarding products, has made decisions regarding skincare that much easier to make.

Thank you! I tried it again last and this morning after having the Blithe on the back burner (if you will), as well as the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid as my toner.

Recently transitioned to more Drunk Elephant products, B-Hydra Gel, TLC Framboos, and Vitamin C Serum and in having done so whatever was reacting has been eliminated, that’s my train of thought at least. (I was using the Ordinary’s Glycolic before, so most likely a bit of (chemical) over-exfoliating.)

I will definitely look more closely at the Hungarian Water Essence, I did try May Coop Raw Sauce a while back, but didn’t feel like it did much?

Tried the Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Pudding Cream recently as well, and I liked it, the texture is pretty much Jell-o, which is so odd when using it at first. And now I’m still on the search for SPF, I will be looking at the Elta MD spf 46 very soon :D!

A few of the items on your list are already in my cart, and a few others were added :D! Are we still due for the usual November VIB sale, you think? It’d be a lot nicer to our wallets to split these purchases into two. A few of the products are not critical at the moment and I could wait until November, but if that doesn’t happen..uh-oh.. (Sorry for the mini essay haha)

Amazing list, I already have and love some of these which makes me think I would like most of the others. I may have to wait until the November sale, but I’ve added a bunch of these to my loved section at Sephora!

I just went to Sephora today to stock up on some things, but now that I’ve seen your list, it looks like I’ll have to go again! I’ve been using that CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt ever since you reviewed it in one of your videos and absolutely love it!
I saw a new brand in-store today that peaked my interest: Indie Lee. What are your thoughts on this brand? I’m looking to try the Brightening Cleanser.

I saw a new brand (new to me at least) called INDIE LEE today in-store. What are your thoughts on its products? The Brightening Cleanser in particular peaked my interest.

Hi there! Yes, if you look 2 posts back for my Dermstore Sale recommendations, Indie Lee’s CoQ10 toner is in there. Ofcourse, her squalane oil was one of the first ever. I haven’t tried the brightening cleanser yet but I do like the brand so far!

Oh, I haven’t see that post yet! I’m only up-to-date on your videos. But glad to know it’s a good brand. I got a sample of the cleanser from Sephora and I’m loving it so far.
P.S. sorry for the double posts! 🙃

Ok…I’m new to this and still trying to get a handle on it… so the Tarte Tingling Treatment is a toner and acid so you use after cleansing and follow it with essence and serums…then there is the farmacy acid which is an acid, essence and serum so with that you would cleanse, tone, then go straight to farmacy serum and moisturizer? But you wouldn’t want to use Tarte as a toner in that case because they are both acids…

I am a new follower and I love your posts, so informative and I thoroughly enjoy reading them. I LOVE my Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil- there really isn’t anything else like it, I really do get that morning glow every am when I wake up after using it, especially in conjunction with Good Genes (which I know you’re not a fan of). Do you have any dupes on it? I have yet to find a comparable oil, have tried Biossance, DE Marula, Josie Maran’s argan but they just don’t give the same effect for me… I sometimes wonder why mess with a good thing but I am so passionate about skincare that I am always curious of what else is out there. I was looking at the Herbivore one but I have sensitive, acne prone skin, not sure if it will work for me? Would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks so much!

The Luna oil has a retinol which is helping with cell turnover and this the glow, so maybe try Pestle & Mortar’s Superstar? It’s not cheaper, so if you’re looking for a less expensive dupe, the Jordan Samuel étOILe with retinol is an option.

Hi! I recently found your website and you tube videos and am loving them. Thank you!

I recently purchased the Amore Pacific Single Vintage Essence and do really like it. I am new to essences and I am wondering how it compares to Secret Key, Missha Intensive Moist, and even SKII? Are there big differences? Or others that you recommend? Perhaps the Amore Pacific is worth the $?

I have very sensitive, combination skin.
    Thanks for any insight.

Hi Taylor! I love the Amore Pacific SVE because of the intense antioxidant concentration of this essence from all the fermented green tea. The other essences don’t have this, those use fermented yeast which has it’s own benefits.
