HAIR

At the moment, I am pretty much dedicated to 2 brands for haircare which is rare. I’m cocktailer but right now, for hair care, it’s either Briogeo or Christophe Robin for me. Most likely, this has to do with their attention to scalp and colour care. I have never quite been as concerned about my scalp as I am now and both brands have done wonders to treat, balance and heal.

BRIOGEO Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Shampoo $42

It takes a lot for me to use an exfoliating shampoo other than Christophe Robin’s Salt Scrub but I’ve been loving this. While CR’s scrub is better as an weekly/occasional treatment, this one I can use more often. There are no sulfates in this formula and my scalp feels balanced and healthy and my hair is shiny. I don’t feel I need to shampoo as often.

BRIOGEO Don’t Despair, Repair!™ Super Moisture Shampoo $36

My go-to shampoo when I need a quick wash. This is so gentle on my hair and scalp and washes off all product without being drying. Non-stripping, even conditioning on my over-processed, color-treated hair.

BRIOGEO Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème $24

I’ve switched over to this cream before I style my hair with my curling iron. Keeps my hair shiny and healthy and most importantly, my ends from splitting despite the high heat.

BRIOGEO Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask $36

I can’t rave enough about this transforming mask. It’s what I use for conditioner. This is light enough that my hair/scalp will not be weighed down even though I use this every time I wash my hair. My hair was softer and transformed after the first use.

BRIOGEO Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment $32

Been using this scalp serum for years. Refreshing, hydrating, my scalp never feels irritated anymore and no flakes! I also have great appreciation for the consistency. It has a bouncy texture so doesn’t run down your face or neck. Rather, it dispenses from the pipette as a bead nestling between your hair strands until you massage it on your scalp and then it turns lightweight and watery. Not thick or sticky.

BRIOGEO Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager $16

Didn’t know I needed one of these until someone started massaging my head with one. Addictive and brings a good amount of circulation back to the follicles. I actually believe this has helped with the shedding. Way less hair loss.

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt $53

The OG. I will always appreciate and repurchase this during the VIB sales!

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Color Fixator Wheat Germ Mask $43

I am really into using hair masks as conditioners now because the results are next level. Regular conditioners are just not cutting it anymore. This one is really lightweight and has helped heal my hair from the bleaching torture I put it through. I also find myself not needing to get ‘toned’ as often.

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Cleansing Volumizing Paste with Pure Rassoul Clay $53

My newest hair love. I’m obsessed with this clay shampoo. I reviewed it in one of my monthly favorites. I feel like this makes my hair appear volumized because all the strands are so light and unencumbered after I use this. I alternate between using this and the exfoliating scrub shampoo as weekly treatments because why not?

OUAI Matte Pomade $24

The gorgeous man who cuts my hair used this on me. I immediately ran out and bought it. Seriously, best pomade I’ve ever tried. I generally find pomades or hair balms awkward, difficult and yuck. He applied this around the crown of my head and on the ends. He created a lift that didn’t quit the entire day. This also made my the ends of my hair look piecey, and defined in a perfectly disheveled way.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Dry Oil Finishing Spray $34

I am loyal to some of B & B’s styling products. This has replaced my all-time favourite City Swept which has been discontinued (gutted). A great finishing spray that sets everything naturally, gives a healthy shine and is not heavy or greasy.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Bb. Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo with French Pink Clay $29

My go-to. I don’t use dry shampoos much because they always leave my scalp feeling weighed down and coated. This one doesn’t. It absorbs the oil, grease and leaves my scalp feeling fresh without the usual residue. This also gives a good amount of volume and texture which is always a plus. I love that this applies to skin without leaving a white powder residue like the powder. The product is refined and blends into even dark hair.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer $399

This is seriously a hair dryer to rule them all. I never thought I could care so much about a hair tool but I have so much appreciation every single time I use this.  Honestly, so worth it. The one thing I am most excited to get during this sale – the new Dyson Airwrap Styler!

BODY

ISLE OF PARADISE Self-Tanning Mousse $29

The skin tone of my face is a number of shades darker than the rest of my body. My legs are practically fluorescent, very resistant to tanning and dressing in the Summer is always challenging. I desperately picked up this mousse in the medium tone before going on a resort trip and was amazed at how well this worked and the ease of application. I don’t do well with self-tanning products because I have zero patience. I slapped this mousse on my legs with my bare hands without exfoliating and a few hours later, the most natural, even, seamless colour. As if that wasn’t good enough, no lingering, tell-tale scent!

TAN-LUXE THE GRADUAL Illuminating Gradual Tan Lotion $33

When I don’t need immediate results, this works so beautifully to give the most natural, seamless tan!

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash $28

Been a favourite for years and a staple restocking purchase every VIB sale.

GO-TO Exceptionoil $39

Love this balm-oil especially now the weather is getting drier and crusts are forming. This is rich, softening and luxurious. Take heed, the packaging is sloppy. Really sloppy. Usually, that would be a deal-breaker but I love the product so much, I’m living with it.

REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum $42

Keeps my skin soft and smooth. Keeps the kp from forming!

SUPERGOOP! Super Power Sunscreen Mousse Broad Spectrum SPF 50 $34

Fell in love with this body skintertainment during the Summer. This makes me enjoy applying sunscreen on my body. The mousse is rich and luscious.

BELIF Body Bomba Body Lotion Lemon Verbena $26

Another VIB restocking staple.

OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub $38

I don’t like physical scrubs on my face but my body is a different story. They help with kp and are extremely satisfying to use. A good physical scrub down feels good. This is super moisturizing and leaves you feeling like a baby but the scent is what really gets me. I love how my skin smells afterwards!

HUM Red Carpet Skin Hydration Supplement $25

I really like this supplement for my hair and nails. Been taking it in cycles for a year now. Always fixes things up when my nails and hair need some love.

HUM Here Comes The Sun Vitamin D Supplement $20

I have embarrassingly low Vitamin D levels. Apparently, most people are deficient. My Dr. actually instructed me to take double the supplements recommended. Huge difference between the way I feel when I am taking the supplements and when I don’t. Mostly energy levels and mood.

FOUR SIGMATIC Mushroom Coffee Mix with Lion’s Mane & Chaga $20

Adaptogens are not new to my diet. I grew up drinking Chinese medicinal soups containing them for energy and during times of stress and as a normal part of my diet. I love that there are now quick, easy and yummier options to get them in my diet on a daily basis. I like this brand because they are transparent about how their ingredients are sourced, extracted, organic, wild-crafted etc. Since these medicinal herbs/plants are not regulated, this is important. This coffee mix actually tastes surprisingly decent. I can’t really taste the shrooms! In a latte, it’s downright delicious.

FOUR SIGMATIC Mushroom Lemonade Mix with Charcoal & Chaga $30

I never thought I would like this. Infact, I didn’t want to touch it with a pole. Until my co-worker made me a glass and now I drink this everyday. This tastes surprisingly good, lemony with a little tang. No herbal, medicinal, mushroomy taste at all.

FOUR SIGMATIC Mushroom Matcha Drink Mix with Lion’s Mane & Ginger $33

Love this in my smoothies!

Wishing you great skin health!

    Hi Renée!

I have been devoted to your channel since your first video and so appreciate your attention to detail and expertise in all things skincare. I would love to know of some really good brands and particular skincare items to turn to while pregnant and breastfeeding. I am overwhelmed by the ingredients out there and trying to keep track of what is actually safe or not. I think your expertise and research on this matter would be invaluable for so many women out there (including myself, who is in desperate need of good quality skincare that is safe to use while I am pregnant).

I would be so grateful and continue recommending you with even greater enthusiasm (if that’s possible)!

    Warmly,
    Christina

Hey Christina! Thank you for your kind words, love! I will work on a video for that but the rules are simple, put a halt on the strong actives. You also may want to avoid essential oils and scent can also be a personal thing during this time! There are brands like Mama Mio that have been specifically created for pregnant moms too!

Thank you for your response! I will eagerly await that video!

Hi Renée, love your Sephora sale picks every time! I’ve been looking more at hair care lately so I’m so glad you have some great reccs here. Agree that Christophe Robin’s line is great, though sadly some of the products the scent is a little strong for me (even though I love the effect they have!). Curious about the Briogeo line and just a heads up there is a set with 2 minis – the Scalp Revival Shampoo and the Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. I grabbed it in store today and can’t wait to try! (If they work out there’s still next weekend for me to pick up the full sizes, lol!)

Oh that’s an excellent set! I think if you’re finding the scent of CR products too powerful, then Briogeo would be a good fit. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

    Hi,
New subscriber at the blog, but definitely not to the Youtube channel. I’m really glad to see you’re also posting here. I guess I’ll spend some time devouring your posts too.

Hi! Do you use the Briogeo rubber scrubber on wet or dry hair?

I use it on dry hair whenever I feel like it. But I don’t think it matters!

I’ve picked up about 4 products that you’ve recommended in this blog post and your video. I am quite excited about the Briogeo exfoliator because I think my scalp has been stressed and needs that detoxifying.

I hope you love everything you picked up as much as I do! Who would’ve thunk scalps get stressed but they do and I feel it.

    Hey Renée!
I’ve been thinking to get the Dyson hair dryer on Black Friday but I’m not sure if it worth the high price.
Why do you like it? Is it better for the hair?

Hey! I thought the same way, it actually took me a while to get one. But when I did, I can’t even look at a regular hair dryer again. It’s better for the hair, dries it so fast, the design aspect is on another level.
